LASH EXTENSIONS
LASH EXTENSION INTRODUCTION
Eyelash extensions are a semi-permanent alternative to applying false lashes. The goal is to enhance the length, curl, fullness, and thickness of natural lashes. Your lash extensions are attached to your own individual eyelashes, and will shed as your natural lashes shed.
LASHES FAQ
What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are a semi-permanent alternative to applying false lashes or mascara. One lash at a time, we’ll frame your eyes with a long, thick, luxurious set. Single strands of high quality synthetic lashes are applied onto your natural lashes to enhance and extend. Our lash artists create a bespoke look, using a variety of extensions to build the right volume, length and curl for your unique style.
What's the difference between ‘lash extensions’ &‘cluster lashes’?
Lash extensions are individual synthetic strands, curled like natural lashes – but better! Cluster lashes are made up of 3-4 strands fanning out from a “bulb” glued on to your natural lashes. Cluster lashes are more difficult to blend in with your natural lash line… and they’re usually lower quality, too. You’ll likely find cheaper rates for cluster lashes – and if you see them applied, you’ll know why!
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Eyelash extensions are applied directly on your natural lashes using a specific adhesive so they will fall out with your natural lash cycle every 6 - 8 weeks. We recommend maintaining your eyelash extensions with a fill in every 2 - 3 weeks. Be warned, lash extensions are incredibly delicate – so give them the TLC they deserve! Exposure to steam or extremely hot water, and touching, picking, or rubbing your lashes can weaken the adhesive bond on your extensions.
I don’t know which set is good for me. What should I do?
Classic full set or hybrid full sets are recommended for first time lash clients. We create sets based on client’s eye shape as well. Message us prior to booking and we can discuss your options!
Do eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?
This is a very common question amongst clients. Your lashes will remain healthy and strong if treatment is performed correctly and safely. The technician will use appropriate lengths and diameters based on your natural lashes, apply lashes properly, and follows up with aftercare recommendations. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes.
What are refills?
Refills are like touch-ups for your extensions. Performed regularly, they’ll keep your lashes looking full and luscious. You may need them more or less often depending on how well you look after your extensions, your natural lash cycle, and the style of your initial set. Typically, clients get infills every 2-3 weeks, however some clients prefer to replace their full set every 4-6 weeks.
Do you clean your lashes or get them wet in the shower?
Absolutely yes! You are encouraged to cleanse your lashes on a daily basis. It is recommended to avoid water or steam ONLY within the first 24 hours to allow the adhesive to fully cure. It is best if you use oil-free cleansers and products when carrying for your lashes. Having your lashes fall out is normal and a sign of a healthy lash cycle.
Can I use mascara with lashes?
It is not recommended as the mascara will clump the lashes together. Thorough cleaning is needed if you choose to use mascara to prevent any infections.
I have a hybrid set, I want to book a volume. Do I have to book for a full set?
No, you can simply book volume refill for your next fill. Just let your technician know that you would like to change the set so they are prepared to make adjustments from the previous refill to the new refill.
BEFORE YOUR LASH APPOINTMENT
- If you use waterproof mascara, avoid using it 2-3 days before your first appointment. The film it leaves on your lashes may prevent the extensions from adhering correctly.
- Arrive to your appointment with dry, clean lashes and makeup-free eyes.
- Remove contact lenses before your appointment.
LASH AFTERCARE
- Do not get your lashes wet for 24 hours after the lash extensions are applied. It will affect the efficacy of the glue
- Avoid steam from showers, facials, saunas and swimming pools.
- Avoid getting moisture around the eye area when washing face, showering etc.
- Avoid sunbathing or tanning beds for 48 hours after application.
- Avoid chemical peels, waxing or laser treatments around the eye
- Avoid using oil-based skincare and makeup products around the eye, including mascara and makeup remover.
- Avoid waterproof mascara. If you can, it is better not to use any mascara at all. You may find you don’t need it!
- Avoid rubbing your eyes or lashes, especially when washing your face. It is recommended to clean around the eye area with a washcloth or cotton swab.
- Avoid using an eyelash curler. One of the benefits of lash extensions is the ability to add curl to your lashes. If you would like more curl, please speak to your technician.
- Gently brush your lashes with a mascara wand to groom them. The best time to do this is after showering, as they will be softer and less likely to damage.
- Avoid pulling your lashes, and do not attempt to remove them yourself. If you would like them removed, please contact your technician.
- Avoid running water over your face. Moisture will break down the bond of the glue.
- If you can, sleep on your back to avoid the risk of lashes rubbing against your pillow.
